Green Construction Safety 101 -- Available Now!
WisdomTools partnered with health and safety experts and the NIEHS Worker Education and Training Program to create a new awareness-level health and safety training solution that is geared specifically toward the new and growing "green" construction industry, Green Construction Safety 101. This highly customizable online training course is suitable for both individual self-study and facilitated classroom instruction.
The first module, GCS 101: Solar Arrays is now available for licensing. GCS 101: Solar Arrays makes a great supplement to existing awareness level worker health and safety programs. GCS 101: Solar Arrays was designed for easy incorporation into refresher courses, 10 and 30 hour outreach training courses, and everything in between. GCS 101: Solar Arrays is composed of three main segments:
- Multimedia Case Study: Solar Shock is an eScene based on a real-life case study that shows two workers going through the basic installation shows two workers working on a basic rooftop solar installation and introduces course concepts in an engaging story-based multimedia format.
- Ground Installs: This segment of the module gives awareness-level information and resources on the hazards that could be encountered during a solar array installation on the ground, and includes follow-up quiz activities that help learners and instructors to ensure information retention.
- Roof Installs: This segment of the module covers the additional hazards associated with solar array installation on rooftop worksites. This segment also includes several follow-up quiz activities and revisits the worksite in Solar Shock with hotspot activities that allow learners and instructors to go over the work site and see what went wrong.
GCS 101:Solar Arrays gives a minimum of one hour of instruction if taken as a refresher by an individual learner. With thorough examination of the available resources, or in an instructor-led classroom environment that includes discussion, there is enough content to fill two to four hours of instruction. GCS 101: Solar Arrays includes awareness-level information and resources on:
| Wildlife | Power Equipment | Chemical Use |
| Heavy Equipmen | Excavation | Silica Exposure |
| Ergonomics | Heat Stress | General Work Site Housekeeping |
| Hand/Portable Power Tools | Assembly Hazards | Lead Acid Batteries |
| Confined Spaces | Bats | Ladder Use |
